About the Awards
The Cannabist Awards recognize the world’s top marijuana and hemp businesses, researchers, technologists, thought leaders, products, influencers and philanthropists. Winners were announced at a live event in Las Vegas on Nov. 16, 2016 during the Marijuana Business Conference & Expo.
Nominations
We encouraged everyone to nominate the future-forward cannabis businesses, organizations, products and people who are taking the marijuana space into a post-legalized era. Submitters were asked to think about the change-makers and the leading disruptors when making nominations.
Award Categories
A panel of expert judges, selected by The Cannabist Staff, chose winners in 40 categories — and also appointed the 2016 Cannabist Person of the Year. Categories celebrated the best in cannabis and hemp technology, research, sustainability, education, philanthropy and other forward-looking facets in the evolving marijuana space.
